About Me

Brenda Jeske Schmidt, principal of Tenor Cathedral Square High School, has been a proud member of the Seeds of Health community for over fifteen years. She joined the agency in 2011 as a school counselor at Veritas High School, holding that position for eight years before becoming the school’s Associate Principal in 2019. After one year in that role, she moved to Tenor Cathedral Square and began serving as Principal, a position she has now held for six years, and through which she maintains a firm commitment to fostering a supportive school culture among both students and staff.

Brightening students’ futures was a main focus for Brenda even before she began work with Seeds of Health. Prior to joining the organization, she worked for six years as an elementary summer school teacher and as a substitute teacher at various Milwaukee charter schools for three years. She also has experience working in autism therapy.

Brenda holds a Bachelor’s in Human Development & Family Studies with an emphasis in Child Development from UW-Madison, in addition to a Master’s in School Counseling from UW-Whitewater and a Master’s in Educational Leadership from Viterbo University.

Outside of work, Brenda enjoys travelling, especially road tripping. She has completed road trips across many countries, including Canada, Iceland, Ireland, and five extended road trips in the US. She also enjoys hiking and being outdoors, having adventures with her family, and reading.

I chose to work at Seeds because I had spent the better part of 3 years in various schools around the city, and it felt different when I walked into Seeds. The relationships between students and staff, and the shared respect, was so evident, it made the choice easy.”
